Famed Concert Photographer John Cavanaugh Announces Rocktography Photo Exhibit and the Asbury Park Music Storytellers Series

Asbury Park, NJ (PHANTOM POWER PRODUCTIONS, www.phantompowerproductions.com) May 8, 2006 – Famed concert photographer John Cavanaugh announces Rocktgraphy, a new photo exhibition featuring a vast sampling of Cavanaugh’s concert photography from the past 15 years accompanied by The Asbury Park Music Storytellers Series highlighting some of the communities most prominent independent singer/songwriters. Named for Cavanaugh’s online gallery, Rocktography.info, the exhibition will run from June 3rd through September 30, 2006 at Red Fusion Bistro / Bar, 662 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park, New Jersey. The Gallery will be open from 11:30am until Closing Everyday.

Rocktography originally debuted in July of 2002 in Sulli Studios, the historic old Asbury Park Press building. Shortly thereafter Stone Pony Management joined forces with Cavanaugh to host special events and artist meet & greet sessions greatly complimenting the musical theme of the photographs on display. In June 2003, Rocktography relocated and opened for daily viewings with a brand new exhibit at the Stage Door Canteen on Cookman Avenue in Downtown Asbury Park. A stage and patron seating area was added creating an intimate performance setting within the second floor Mezzanine for ticket holders to view the debut Storytellers series of performances.

“The goal of The Asbury Park Music Storytellers Series is to partner the local arts community to the local music scene by offering an intimate, professional space for musicians to share their art,” says Cavanaugh. The photos from Cavanaugh's portfolio spanning his impressive photography career create a wonderful backdrop for The Series and offer a point of interest for those who come to Asbury Park to investigate its rich musical history. Some of the artists already slated to perform at the 2006 Storytellers Series include Bob Burger, Vini Lopez & Sonny Kenn, Bill Toms and Joe D’Urso.

Cavanaugh, who has been behind the lens to document the rock-n-roll histrionics that have occurred on the New Jersey Shore over the past fifteen years is the official photographer for local music institutions The Stone Pony night club and the Light of Day and Writers In The Raw concert series. His internationally renowned photography have been published in a number of tri-state area newspapers including The Star Ledger, the Asbury Park Press, and the New York Times; Rolling Stone and Backstreets magazines, as well as other respected national and European publications. His photos are complementary and their availability to the public has been encouraged by the subject artists.

Cavanaugh’s website, Rocktography.info boasts exciting galleries of live concert photos, links to the many artist sites that feature John's work, plus press clippings, credits and other memories of the legends and moments captured by his camera.

A special Asbury Park Storyteller Music Series is coming to the new Rocktography Photo Exhibition 2006 at Red Fusion (the old Harry's Roadhouse) at 660 Cookman Avenue in downtown Asbury Park, NJ.
